Design Guide for Alzheimer sufferers
Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disease. Symptoms include loss of memory, judgment and reasoning; difficulty with day-to-day tasks, and changes in communication abilities, mood and behavior. The project is designed as an awareness campaign about Alzheimer’s Disease to remind us that the simplest tasks can be confusing or even impossible to perform for a person living with Alzheimer’s Disease. I have researched extensively into design needs of sufferers and produced a design guide to show how good design and understanding might just make the quality of life for Alzheimer’s sufferers, that much better. Successful interior and detail design enhance the quality and enjoyment of interior space in environments created for the sufferers of Alzheimer’s who perhaps no longer enjoy such subtleties should be compensated by detail that is legible and takes full account for impairments and maximize whatever degree of independence that remains.
