Regeneration Project and Barn Conversions
Cracow University of Technology The project consisted of two parts: regeneration of Uraz Village and barn conversion into modern family home and agrotourism holiday accommodation.
Uraz Village is located 19 kilometres north-west of the regional capital Wroclaw.
An essential component of the plan is the development and implementation of a clear spatial strategy that will create a strong and legible spatial identity for the village, based on Uraz historic network of streets, public spaces and buildings. It is intended to use this network to create a stimulating and legible sense of place to generate energy and activity in the village and provide a physical framework for future development.
Proposed transformation of an existing shed into a family home and holiday accommodation is responds to the immediate context by using a simple layout.
The design proposal and the detailed layout for the site is inspired by a detailed analysis, in order to provide an optimal response to the existing character, the existing natural environment (orientation, landscape, trees, land configuration), the scale of adjacent existing developments as well as the access arrangement.
The proposed scale of the development has been set by using the height of the existing house on site with the general massing to match the houses in the area.
